Course Description

The Bachelor of Business (BBus) at King’s Own Institute (KOI) offers a comprehensive, flexible, and career-focused undergraduate education designed to prepare graduates for leadership roles in the dynamic global economy. Building upon core operational and strategic business disciplines, the curriculum equips students with multidisciplinary problem-solving capabilities, digital fluency, and ethical decision-making skills.

Students complete eight common core subjects in their first year covering foundational business disciplines; including management, marketing, accounting, economics, statistics, business law, information systems, and professional communication. From Year 2, students can choose to follow a versatile Generalist pathway or specialise in one of three high-demand industry domains.

  • Generalist Business Pathway: Allows students to select core and elective subjects across multiple disciplines without declaring a major, cultivating adaptable, broad-based business capabilities for versatile career options.
  • Hospitality Management Specialisation: Prepares managers for strategic commercial, operational, service excellence, and revenue management roles across Australia’s expanding AUD 78+ billion tourism and hospitality sector.
  • Project Management Specialisation: Delivers formal methodology in project initiation, scope, risk, schedule, governance, and agile leadership, directly addressing national shortfalls across engineering, IT, construction, and corporate services.
  • Generalist Business Pathway: Prepares ‘business technologists’ capable of bridging technical IT solutions with organizational strategy through database design, systems analysis, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, and data analytics.
