Shakir Karim holds a PhD from the University of Sydney, a Master of Informatics (Research), Master of Information Systems and Bachelor of Information Systems from Central Queensland University. His research focuses on health informatics, information systems, health services, social network analysis, and emerging technologies. With extensive experience in both academia and industry, including senior leadership roles in Professional Services at SAI Global Limited, he brings a practical, industry-informed perspective to research and teaching. Shakir Karim has taught at the University of Sydney, Central Queensland University, Australian Catholic University, and several international colleges, delivering ICT courses that emphasise practical application, industry relevance, and student engagement through authentic learning experiences and guest industry speakers. His interdisciplinary research spans information systems, business, education, and health. Key interests include information systems management, global information systems, innovation and technology management, entrepreneurship, digital transformation, enterprise systems, artificial intelligence, big data analytics, cloud and mobile computing, social media, and knowledge management.
