Brief Bio
Dr. Sabiha Matin, is a motivated young leader with experience in Destination Branding, serves as a lecturer at KOI and also in the University of Newcastle and Macquarie Business School. Her journey in academia began at the University of Dhaka, where she was honored with the ‘Dean’s Honor Award’ and ‘Dean’s Merit Award’. Completing her Ph.D. in Marketing at The University of Newcastle in December 2023, Dr. Matin's research has notably advanced the understanding of destination image and event marketing, supported by the ‘Prime Minister Fellowship’ from the Bangladesh Government. Her work extends to exploring the effects of mobile app technologies, like Augmented Reality (AR), on tourism in the Coffs Harbour City Council area, showcasing her commitment to integrating technology in tourism enhancement. Notably, Dr. Matin has been instrumental in securing the Geographical Indication (GI) rights for 'Jamdani', a traditional Bangladeshi fabric, a testament to her dedication to cultural heritage promotion and protection, earning accolades from the Bangladesh Government. Dr. Matin's ambitions lie in leveraging her expertise for Bangladesh's branding and tourism, aiming to position the country as a leading destination for business and leisure. Her multifaceted research and advocacy work demonstrate her commitment to contributing to Bangladesh's national development and policy formulation in tourism and destination branding.
