Our student lounges are more than somewhere to stop and have lunch. They are places to meet fellow students, relax, mingle and foster friendships. The environment is comfortable, practical and inviting. Students can bring their own lunches with reheating facilities available and vending machines for pick-me-up snacks and drinks to keep up energy levels.
The Institute’s computer facilities include the latest technology and software, with sufficient terminals to cater to student needs. WiFi is provided throughout KOI so that students can access the internet from anywhere in the Institute with their laptops and handheld devices. Every trimester, each student is given unlimited free data allowance for internet usage.
Library & Information Services
King’s Own Institute has a specially designed and resourced libraries including quiet rooms and specialist library staff for this essential part of your study. The library is located at the Level 1, Kent Street & Level 2, O’Connell Street campus. Our library is stocked with reference materials relevant to the courses offered in our Institute and includes textbooks, magazines, journals, reference books and newspapers. At KOI, we do our best to resource students for their best performance.
King’s Own Institute’s premises are centrally located and have been designed with the needs of today’s students in mind. The environment is not only comfortable but most importantly it is conducive to study and highly functional for the busy student.
Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
Australian Government law requires international students and their dependents undertaking formal studies in Australia to purchase and maintain OSHC before a visa is granted. Membership of a health insurance scheme in your home country does not exempt you from having to take out OSHC. KOI’s recommended provider is AHM and we can arrange the cover on your behalf when you pay your premium at the time you pay your tuition fees.
KOI Student Society
KOI seeks to enhance your you student life experience while on campus by encouraging our students to have a balanced lifestyle.
Students have their own independent Student Society which promotes extracurricular activities for students. These activities are offered on a trimester basis and include a FUTSAL and cricket competitions, an end of trimester harbour cruise among others.
The student society’s mission is to:
- Enhance the advancement of student life and
- student participation at KOI
- Engage students in extracurricular activities
- Serve as a source of communication between KOI
- Staff and Students
- Encourage leadership through service at KOI

Life saving and water safety program
Water activity and the beach is the core to Sydney’s life style in summer and to make these activities accessible for our students who cannot swim. we offer a life saving and water safety program free of charge on a trimester basis.
The program lasts for six weeks and following what you can learn – the basic fundamentals of swimming up to 15 metres, floating and buoyancy, wearing a life jacket.
