Student Support and Counselling Services

At KOI, our friendly and dedicated Student Services and Counselling team would love to meet you. We are happy to answer any questions you may have while studying on campus. Our friendly team is also available on email and phone for your queries.

The Student Services and Student Engagement and Counselling Team are responsible for Monitoring Academic Progress (MAP), student engagement and general advice and counselling for all students. We will answer your questions about your studies and life at KOI, provide information on who to contact for help and suggest additional resources that may be useful to you.

Students Support Services

Our friendly student support team are available for face-to-face meetings, by email and by phone.

Your queries may relate to your timetable, taking a trimester break, course progression, special consideration, MAP (Monitoring Academic Progress), LSC (Learning Skills Centre), counselling support, grades or letters to government departments, we’re here to help and you can reach our friendly team by email studentserv@koi.edu.au , phone(02 9283 3583) or in person at the Reception.

Personal Emergencies: In the event that you (or your family) have a personal emergency that will affect your studies, you need to let KOI know as soon as possible.

Please contact the Student Services Team in the first instance. The Student Services Team can be contacted through KOI Reception or email (studentserv@koi.edu.au).

Counselling Services

At KOI, there is a Counselling team made up of qualified counsellors who are trained to work with students on any issues of concern. Students are encouraged to access the free, confidential counselling services as early as possible before their studies are affected.

The counselling team provides support in the follow areas:-

  • Support and transition to Higher Education studies
  • Motivational support
  • Personal skills development
  • Anxiety, stress and management
  • Exam stress management and time management
  • Life style and study balance

Our services are available to all currently enrolled KOI students. Services include:

  • Short term solution focused counselling
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Mindfulness
  • Short to medium term counselling

Students Helping Students (SHS) Program

The Students Helping Students Program offers students a supportive and encouraging space to kick start their journey at KOI.

The program is open to all students and introduces international students to a more experienced student called a Peer Mentor who can help make the transition to KOI easier.

Peer Mentors are experienced and friendly international students who are available to answer questions about learning at KOI or living in Australia.

The KOI Peer Mentoring will help you:-

  • set and achieve goals
  • meet peers and build networks
  • gain valuable insights about student life and learning at KOI
  • empowering you to succeed academically and socially.

Academic Support Services

Our friendly team of Academic advisers are the first point of contact for any academic, subject or course related information. Queries related to extension in assessments or special consideration can be made at the reception counter at any of our three locations (Kent Street, Market Street or O’Connell Street). Alternatively, to  request an appointment with an academic adviser, you may send an email to academic@koi.edu.au.

Learning Skills Centre (LSC)

KOI offers a range of free learning skills and support programs in literacy, numeracy and Information Technology to facilitate and enhance the learning experience in your first-year transition.

The Learning Skills Centre (LSC) at KOI is designed to assist students in developing essential academic skills in literacy, numeracy and IT. This program enables students to succeed with a greater chance in achieving academic success for any discipline. For more details click here

e-Learning Support is available for students in the library located in Kent Street and O’Connell Street location.

Academic Integrity Module (AIM)

The Academic Integrity Module (AIM) is managed by LSC and is a mandatory program for all students at the start of their first trimester. This mandatory program is designed to teach you to protect your work and say NO to Plagiarism, Cheating and Contract Cheating.
