Dr Jawad Ahmed joins King’s Own Institute as a Senior Lecturer in Information Technology, bringing over a decade of experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership across Australian higher education. Before joining KOI, Dr Jawad worked at the University of New South Wales Sydney as a Senior Research Associate in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, where he led and contributed to several cybersecurity and network security projects. He successfully secured CCDI Seed Funding as the Lead Investigator for a project on implementing secure communication frameworks for distributed energy systems. Dr Jawad has also worked as a Lecturer (for over five years) at the Australian Institute of Higher Education, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses specially in network security, cybersecurity fundamentals along with basic units of Information Technology. He holds a PhD in Electrical (Telecommunication) Engineering from UNSW Sydney, where his doctoral research focused on monitoring enterprise network security via DNS data analysis. His work has been published in leading journals such as the IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering and the IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management. Dr Jawad’s research interests include cybersecurity, computer networks, distributed systems, and machine learning-based threat detection. Outside academia, he enjoys exploring new technologies, mentoring students on research projects, and occasionally playing cricket.
